The recipe mentions adding vanilla, but vanilla isn’t listed on the ingredient list. How much vanilla do you use?
Ashley at Frugal Coupon Living says
Sorry Amelia – 1 tsp

Love all of your copycat recipes! Can’t wait to try making the almond joys…they are my favorite!

This was the biggest mess EVER. I ended up putting it all in a pan and pouring the chocolate on top. Maybe it will at least be edible.
Cheryl says
Agreed. Was very messy! The milk/sugar combination would just not hold a shape even after I added extra coconut. The mixture kept spreading. Had to cover with chocolate in 2 stages as it was very quick to soften and spread, again, even after freezing. Taste, although nice, is too sweet for me, but the kids enjoyed it.

I am going to attempt these candies in the next couple of days.
Easter is coming and I’d rather make homemade then buy the store stuff. I never trust the dates on them.
I’m assuming that the last two comments failed because they didn’t
follow the freezer instructions.
My question, if you still read your comments is.
How well do they keep, and how long?
Also, do they have to stay refrigerated because of the condensed milk?
Ashley at Frugal Coupon Living says
Yes, I would keep the refrigerated. I also think they taste good frozen. I wouldn’t keep longer than a week, unless you freeze.
Heather says
How many does this recipe make??
Ashley at Frugal Coupon Living says
Depending on your size, about 1.5 dozen.
