Tips for making the best southern peach sweet tea: Make sure you crush the peaches while stirring them in the pot and add the sugar while the syrup is hot. This helps the sugar dissolve well and creates a sweeter tea. Also, the secret ingredient is adding a pinch of baking soda while you’re brewing the black tea bags.

FAQ’s:
Why add the baking soda?
This secret ingredient actually helps reduce the bitter flavor (the tannens) from the tea bags, helping create a smoother, slightly less bitter end product.
What is Sonic sweet tea sweetened with?
They offer 2 options. A Sonic sweet tea that has a sugar syrup base, or a sugar free option that is sweetened with Splenda.
Is Sonic tea brewed?
Yes. Their teas, whether they are black tea or green tea, are brewed fresh daily.
How many tea bags do you use for a gallon of sweet tea?
That can depend on the quality of tea you’re using, how strong you want it, etc. The recommended amount varies but it is approximately eight to ten single cup tea bags or three to four family size tea bags.
How much sugar does Sonic put in their sweet tea?
A medium-sized sweet tea has about 45 grams of sugar.
What is the difference between sweet tea and sweetened tea?
There is not much difference. Sweet tea is typically brewed with sugar then has more sugar added to it, creating a slightly sweeter tea. Sweetened tea is usually just sweetened after it has been brewed and taken off the heat.
