As the new school year approaches, it’s the perfect time to engage children in meaningful activities that combine creativity with faith. One fantastic idea for Sunday School or any back-to-school event is the Paper Bag Backpack Craft. This cute craft for kids not only allows children to create a fun and useful item but also incorporates encouraging Bible verses to remind them of God’s presence and guidance throughout the school year. Let’s take a look.
Paper Bag Backpack Craft
The Paper Bag Backpack Craft is a delightful project that transforms a simple brown lunch bag into a vibrant, personalized backpack. This Bible craft is ideal for children, parents, Sunday School teachers, and church groups. It can be used during the first day of school activities, back-to-school events, or as a fun family project. Including scripture in this craft provides children with a spiritual toolkit, reminding them of godly attributes they can carry with them every day.
Encouraging Bible Verses for Back to School
Incorporating Bible verses into school supplies is a wonderful way to ensure children are equipped with spiritual wisdom and encouragement. Here are some of the Bible verses included in the backpack craft:
- Kindness: “Be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, as God in Christ forgave you” – Ephesians 4:32
- Wisdom: “Listen to advice and accept discipline, and at the end you will be counted among the wise.” – Proverbs 19:20
- Discernment: “For the word of God is alive and active. Sharper than any double-edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart.” – Hebrews 4:12
- Friendship: “As iron sharpens iron, so one person sharpens another.” – Proverbs 27:17
- Creativity: “For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.” – Ephesians 2:10
- Strength: “I can do all this through him who gives me strength.” – Philippians 4:13
Six Bible Verses are on a page. Kids can color the scripture cards and keep them in their paper backpack equipping them with the word of God.
How to Make a Paper Backpack
Creating this paper backpack is simple and fun. Here’s how you can make it:
Supplies:
- Different Colors of Paper (I like this brand)
- Paper Lunch Bags (I used 5 1/8 wide by 10 5/8 tall)
- Crayons, Markers, or Colored Pencils
- Glue or Tape
- Scissors
Directions:
- Print the Templates: Print the school supply Bible verses and backpack template on colored (or white) paper.
- Color the Pieces: Color the Bible verses and backpack parts if desired. Write your name on the pocket of the backpack.
- Cut Out the Pieces: Cut out the Bible verses and backpack pieces.
- Insert Bible Verses: Place the Bible verses inside the brown paper bag.
- Insert the Backpack Blessing Prayer: Place the backpack prayer inside the brown paper bag.
- Attach the Flap and Strap: Cut out the flap and the front strap. Fold the flap in half. Glue the back of the flap and place it on top of the brown bag (leaving an opening.) Glue the edges of the front strap on the bag. Insert the flap tab with the button into the strap.
- Attach the Handle: Flip the bag over. Glue the handle on the back of the folded flap.
- Attach the Backpack Straps: Fold the backpack straps on the dashed line and glue the folded part to the back of the brown backpack.
Now your child has a handy paper backpack to keep their Back to School Bible Verses organized and to carry the word of God with them wherever they go. This Christian backpack craft not only fosters creativity but also helps instill important spiritual values in a fun and engaging way.
Enjoy making these backpacks and have a blessed start to the school year!
