Baby Showers. I have been to them for triplets, I have been showered in pink, I have been in a room with everything blue. If you are a mom, you likely are familiar. They are a time to honor mother’s to be and “shower” them with the many needs of parenthood – diapers to onesies to strollers and more! No doubt that preparing for your tiny bun in the in the oven is a bit pricey. New parents find themselves with a long list of items they needs for their newest arrival.
This year, Pampers is on a mission. Teaming up with the Points of Light Institute, they will be throwing 1,000 baby showers for expectant mothers across the country in May and June!
Creative Baby Shower Ideas from Facebook Fans:
- Pick a theme and go with it. For example, if your mama to be is having a baby girl choose a pink theme. Serve all things pink included pink lemonade, strawberries, pink cupcakes, etc.
- Location, Location, Location. If you don’t have a perfect shower home, have everyone go out for fondue and chip in $10 to $15 for the bill. It makes it cheap and affordable for everyone.
- Get Creative: Google Diaper Cakes and try one out. They are are super cute and fun to make and save money on center pieces.
- Use your Gift: If you are buying a mom onesies, hang them from a clothesline and decorate the shower up a bit.
- Shower Gifts: You don’t have to make them pricey. Pop some popcorn, tie a cute ribbon and write “Sarah is about to pop!” Or buy baby bottles at the dollar store and fill with color candy.
- Discover the Gender: Instead of the doctor telling the parent the sex of the baby have the doctor write the sex down put it in and envelope and give it to the person making the cake. Have the baker dye the cake pink for girl or blue for boy. That way when mommy and daddy cut the cake everyone gets to find out together.
- Play Games: Have everyone clip a clothespin to their collar/clothing. When they say the word baby, they have to pass their clothespin on to whoever caught them saying the word. Whoever has the most clothespins gets a special gift. Melt candy bars in diapers and have guests guess what candy bar is found in each diaper. Looks gross, but makes for funny moments. Another game entails the “water” breaking. Freeze mini babies in ice cubes and get creative for each shower guest on how to make the baby’s water break or melt.
- Make a Boquet: Roll up socks, onesies, bibs, etc. Wrap it with Flower tape and sticks and make a pretty floral bouquet.
- Always say Thanks: Have every guest address their own envelope for the mom to be to write thank you notes. She will appreciate all the time saved when it comes to writing her cards. Gift her with stamps too!
- Don’t forget Dads: Have the dads get together for a BBQ and just bring diapers.
- Get Crafty: Bring one yard of fabric that reminds them of the mother and have someone crafty sew a blanket for the mom and baby to be or pick up ribbion and other decorative supplies and decorate onesies for the new baby.
In honor of Father’s Day, Pampers has another mission. They are asking 4,000 people to commit to finding a way for fathers to bond with their babies. This includes taking over a task for dad so he can spend more time with his precious baby – cover a meeting at work, run an errand for him, pick up his dry cleaning, etc. Make your pledge on Pampers Facebook Page.

I am giving a shower to a first time mom on June 25. I could so use this prize, as one of the women who was going to help me, bailed. In addition, we are inviting women that we go to church with, and only 2 have agreed to come. Mom and dad to be are so embarrassed. I feel terrible. I’ve considered canceling the shower and just buying them a bunch of gifts instead. :(
Signing up for emails and sharing on FB now. :) Thank you.

1.) My niece is due in August 2011. She just got married last year and her husband is in the military, stationed in Arizona. Like most military families, finances are scarce. I would love to throw them a great baby shower. She knows she is having a girl and loves Tinkerbell so that is the theme.

I would bless my sister-in-law with a baby shower. At 37 years old she is having her second child. She has been my rock when I have been through so many triumphs in my life. When I lost my fiance she basically put her life on hold to be there for me. When I lost my father she was there again. After 7 long years of a bad relationship, she has finally found a man that adores her and treats her the way she deservest to be treated…the way she treats others. I would love to honor her with a baby shower to celebrate her new life and the new life she is going to bring into this world!!!
TXGrandmaPam says
I would have to spend it on a combined baby shower for my two nieces.
One due on September and one due in October.
It would have to be a It’s a Boy / It’s a Girl Shower !!!!
Wouldn’t that be fun and interesting to plan?

I would absolutely love to win this for my step-sister, last year she was put in the hospital for almost 4 months, and the doctors are still unsure of her illness. She was having trouble breathing and almost died several times. After a few months of rehab and getting back to almost normal, her and her husband are expecting their second child. She is truly blessed and I think this would be a great surprise for me to give her if I won.
Andrea says
P.S. My favorite game to play at a baby shower is The Clothesline Game. There is a basket of clothes at both ends of the line. Two guests are at each end. They are holding a baby doll in one arm and a phone between their cheek and shoulder on the other arm. They race to hang the clothes on the line. Very entertaining. :)

My sister is expecting her 3rd baby in Feb. It is a total suprise. They were not planning on having anymore (but are totaly excited to be) so they had gotten rid of everything baby. Their kitchen flooded a few months back and they had to rip the whole thing out and have been without one for over 2 months. Their bathroom flooded and went through the floor and flooded the living room. The main water pipe to the house rotted and they had to replace that (their house was built in 1919). They have a VERY VERY small house with not one place to put a crib (their sons room the twin goes from one wall to the other and the cealings aren’t tall enough for bunkbeds). They are upsidedown on their mortgage (like so many americans) and just aren’t sure what to do. I will me blessing her with a baby shower but could use some help with the money aspect. She is an amzing person and I would love for her shower to be everything I can dream up for her :)

I don’t want my friend to have to worry or stress over anything. Oh yeah – and a great idea for a baby shower? I love the idea of each shower guest bringing the baby a book that was their favorite children’s story. My friends did this at my shower and not only does my son have TONS of beautiful books that are all so meaningful, but he also loves to read them since it was instilled in him at such a young age. It’s a great conversation piece between guests as well because everyone shares stories about what made each book special to them when they were kids.

My childhood girlfriend is due in August. Her mom has just had surgery to remove a large portion of her tongue due to her 4th type of cancer in 5 years. I want to host a very family-oriented shower for her. I plan on purchasing Mother-To-Be and Grandmother-to-be sashes. This baby may not know her Grandma very long, so I want to celebrate these incredible women and the introduction to the newest generation. I plan on making a photobook for my girlfriend of the party so that she can show her daughter as she grows. The theme is pink turtles. The cake will be a pink turtle and the cupcakes will look like baby faces. We’ll give pink chocolate turtles as favors. We’re playing lots of interactive games. I can’t wait to shower her and her baby girl with the love that this family has shown me throughout my own life!!
Katie says
Is it wrong to say me? Haha I’m due in 7 weeks.
My favorite thing to do for the Mom’s I’ve helped throw showers for in the past is to include a piece of paper in the invitation saying if they bring a pkg of diapers to the shower in addition to their gift they will be entered to win a gift basket. I am a hair stylist so I make the gift basket out of professional products that I can get at a discount and everyone loves it! Each mom I have done that for has been so blessed with the head start on diapers for their little one. Be creative with what resources are available to you to make the gift basket.

I would like to throw a baby shower for my cousin who is due in August. She is going through a rough time in her life having to leave her friends, family, job, and all because the baby’s father became verbally abusive and threatening. This is not in anyway written to sway the decision into giving me the money to throw her the baby shower. It would be really nice to surprise her with an awesome baby shower and the possibility of winning this money would be a blessing for her.

I have been sick with lupus for 3 years now, not able to work, and this is a burden for Lena, who while attending prom talked her friends and their dates into a ‘surprise hosiptal visit’ so I could share in the fun.
Umm, thank you for prompting me to….

I would throw one of my friends a shower. I would do up the girlie theme-have someone give us manis and pedis. One idea i would definitely do-have everyone decorate onesies for the baby.

I’d bless one of my closest friends who always brings a smile to anyone she meets with a Baby Shower. I’ve known her since Sophmore year in High School and we got a long instantaneously.
She’s 3 months pregnant with a an active baby boy… She currently isn’t getting a long with her family… and I can’t even imagine how hard it is on her physically and emotionally to be going through all of this without her family (she’s an only child) I’d love to throw her a fabulous baby shower to brighten her day, and rise her sprits… +to remind her of the amazing future she’s going to have. She truly is a beautiful person inside and out and deserved the best baby shower, with plenty of Pampers to last her. hehe
Patti says
I would bless my son & his girlfriend, even though she has already given me a beautiful grandson on May 26th. My son lost his job in the middle of April and Kelsey works part-time at Kwik Trip. Kelsey’s grandmother gave her a baby shower but only with family. I would love to give them a shower together were their friends and family can all be together. Some meeting for the first time, some a joyful reunion. With Justin and Kelsey both being young and not having a lot of money I think this would be a blessing for all three of them, Justin, Kelsey and Gabriel.

My favorite shower idea is getting onesies and letting every body decorate them. I also like the books and diapers shower where everyone brings packs of diapers and their favorite books. This works really well. Especially if you already have a kid or two that you can use hand me downs from and don’t need a lot of new baby stuff.

I would honor my sister-in-law with a shower. She is expecting her 3rd girl and lives about 8 hours away from all family! I think it would be a great surprise!
Haley Munson says
I would bless my friend Karia who is due any day with her 3rd child. She doesn’t know anyone in this area really and has not had a baby shower. She deserves this shower because she is one of the most generous people I know. She is always giving my little girl extra clothing from her oldest. She is always giving away stuff to people who are in need who she doesn’t even know. Her family doesn’t have much financially but their hearts are big and generous and it would be wonderful to bless her family in this way!
Thanks

1) Favorite Baby Shower Idea: The Very Hungry Caterpillar. Gender Neutral Theme… guests can sample foods that the caterpillar ate, games can tie in, and books can be given as favors to promote literacy. I would use the $300 to put toward a baby shower for myself. I am 38 weeks pregnant with my second child, and have not had a baby shower for this child, although I had one for my first born. I believe all children should be celebrated!

I am hosting a baby shower for my brother’s girlfriend who is pregnant with their first baby–a girl due in Sept. She doesn’t have many friends that live in her area to throw her a shower, is waitressing to pay bills because my brother was just laid off from his computer job a month ago, and they have NOTHING for this new bundle. They need desperately the basics (car seat, crib, DIAPERS). I’ve been asking church friends for donations to help them during this tough economical time. I hope I win the gift card to help w/her shower b/c this could be a rainbow in such a gloomy financial time for them.
Angie says
At a recent baby shower, we had to put a balloon under our shirts, walk to a bucket w/a coin in between our knees and drop it in the bucket. It’s called “Piddle in the pot” or something like that. The team that does it the fastest wins.

I have one game idea that I love to play. What you need is the smallest safety pins like the size of a rice. About 30 or so, a big bowl and with that bowl fill uncooked rice half way. Pour the safety pins in and mix it. You need to blind fold the player and give them a time limit. The player get to stick one hand in and try to get as much safety pins as they can. The one with the most wins. It seem easy but wait till you try it! Its a challenging game..

One of the neatest ideas for baby shower I’ve seen – have each guest (and hostess) come with a note or even just a sentence or a picture to put into a Baby Wish Book….whether it’s about wishes for future, funny memories of the baby’s parents, even pictures of pregnant mom, etc. Then at the end of the shower, the hosts collect the “wishes” and put them all in teh book for the mom to be. Friends did this for me 9 yrs ago and I STILL LOVE IT. I now have 4 friends, ALONG WITH MYSELF, expecting, so any one of them would love this gift.

I would throw a shower for one of my best friends. She is expecting her first child and is somewhat on her own since her Mom and immediate family live in Romania. I would love to bless her with a shower!
One baby shower idea that I’ve seen is the Guess the poopy diaper game where you melt candy bars in the diaper and the attendees try to guess what kind it is..it’s somewhat gross but hilarious!

Me an Aunt for only the second time. I have one niece who us 22 years old her daddy is my older brother. I was not blessed. All mine are the furry four legged type.

I would like to use the gift card to throw my niece a spectacular baby shower. She is a young mother. This is her first child and she needs everything. Our family has had a lot of bad things happen in the past 2 years with mom mother’s death being the most difficult for the family. My mother and my niece were extremely close (she is actually naming the child my mother’s middle name) and she has not had much joy in her young life since my mother passed away. It is time for our family to celebrate life again and the gift card would make my niece’s shower a very memorable one!
As for games, one of my favorite things to do is have the guests address the return envelopes for the thank you cards. I buy enough small gifts for each of the guests to receive one. I then one by one, call out the guests names and as each name is called they pick a gift until each guest has a gift. The fun part is that as your name is called you can either choose a gift from the table or you can take someone’s gift from them. I call each name twice so that everyone has the opportunity to take someone’s gift and everyone ends up with a gift once all the names have been called the second time. It’s hilarious to see grown women competing for a scented candle or some other small gift.

i know a young mom that is expecting her 2nd, who will be 15 months younger than the 1st. Plus the mom got married & moved 3,000 miles away from family just 2 years ago, plus health issues for her & her first born, so she’s been through some drastic changes in just a short time. I’d throw the shower for her as a fun surprise. My fav baby shower idea is a game where each person tells the mom to be something unusual about themselves, and then after everyone goes, the mom has to turn around and remember what each persons thing was. Very fun, and great ice breaker.

I was always pretty good at playing the games at Baby Showers; however, last year, at my daughter’s baby shower, I got stumped! Unlabeled jars of baby food were passed around and you had to guess what kind of food it was–I didn’t realize it would be so hard! Needless to say, I didn’t win. The other idea they used, which I had never seen before, a piggy bank was passed around and as each guest got it, they dropped in a coin and passed on to my daughter bits of wisdom. It was a great baby shower and I am now the proud grandmother of a beautiful boy! Thanks for the giveaway.

I would throw a shower for my late daughter’s classmate. They just graduated from high school and she is pregnant.
To make it memorable it’d be purple butterflies. That is what my daughter was very well known for – her love of purple butterflies. It would be a way to incorporate Olivia into the shower while welcoming a new life into the world. And also, honoring another one of Olivia’s legacies….paying it forward. And that is why…to honor the memory of the life cut too short while celebrating one coming a bit too early but loved all the same!

I have occasionally donated or done things with my local crisis pregnancy center. For worried parents-to-be they offer parenting classes, free ultrasounds, clothing, prenatal care, baby gear, Bible classes, etc. They have a big “store” full of donated items where they can “buy” things with credits they receive for attending parenting classes. My favorite baby shower idea is I always ask the attendees to bring a copy of their favorite childrens book with them to share with the mommy to be… when they come in I put them in a big bag and one of the shower games is to guess who brought which one. Any duplicates we always donate to a local daycare or preschool.

I would do a shower for myself because my son was induced early because I developed severe pre-eclampsia. I didn’t get a chance to plan anything because in the final weeks I was on complete bed rest. I would like to do a welcoming shower for him to celebrate his life.

I have a friend of mine who’s pregnant and a single mom like me, I’d throw her a baby shower. To make it memorable…hmmm well having a baby shower at all would be memorable for her, but I’d get one of those diaper cakes. I think they’re very memorable and super-cute!
I’m not sure of the theme, I’d have to do some recon to find out what her thoughts are on the room design. I know the bedding she registered for has a zoo animal theme so something along those lines, I think.
I know she’d be touched by the gesture and very appreciative of the baby shower and gifts!

In late July, I am throwing a Baby Boy Shower for my Co-Worker and close friend, Annali. Since the family is a huge into baseball, the baby’s room and Baby Shower are going to be baseball themed. Annali LOVES the Phillies and Andy LOVES the Yankees, so it will be interesting to see which team the baby is going to like ;)!! I plan on pulling out my circuit and making cute “Annali is about to Pop” tags for the popcorn favors (Thanks for the idea.) The cake is going to have Yankee décor on one side and Phillies décor on the other. The centerpieces will include famous baseball munchies: Cracker Jack, Peanuts and Mini soft prezles. As she opens her gifts, the tunes of softly baseball themed songs will be played in the back round.
Annali, Andy and their 6 year old daughter, Alexis have been through a lot with an unexpected miscarriage in January 2009. Alexis has been waiting a long time for a baby to come, and I really would like to make it special for her, too. Whenever I see Alexis and mention the baby, her beautiful eyes sparkle with joy. I purchased shirts that say “I am The Big Sister” and the baby has “I am the Little Brother.” I also brought Alexis a Baby Alive so she can get plenty of practice before the baby comes home.
The gift card will be used to purchase necessities the baby will need: Diaper, Wipes, A Clothesline Full of Onesies Booties and Clothes, A Basket Full of Bottles, Nipples, and Bibs, and A Shower Tub filled with bathing and lathering products. Please select this entry. Together, Frugal Coupon Living and Pamper ‘s contributions will make this Baby Shower a HOMERUN!!!

I just had a beautiful baby girl 3.5 weeks ago~ I would love to pamper her with extra special treats!! My shower idea to share that I have seen is baby rubber ducks floating in your punch bowl…very cute and festive!!

This past year I had a baby that had a birth defect called a congenital diaphragmatic hernia and actually had a fetal surgery to help improve his chances of living by helping to grow his lungs. I am happy to report that it worked and after some surgeries and 7 weeks in the NICU my little guy is doing well. So my idea for a baby shower would be for those families who are patients of the same place I went to called the fetal care institute. I could help provide a ton of snap up outfits(needed since there are multiple lines to monitor the babies), small care packages with gift cards for gas, and other things NICU parents need.

I would love a baby shower for my sister in law who has been trying for 10 years to get pregnant. She and my brother finally got pregnant using ivf. She is due August 31, 2011 and I am so happy for them and would love to have a beautiful baby shower for their baby boy!

My brother and sister in law are in love with mickey mouse and she would love to have that as her theme for baby shower. this will be my sister in laws first baby and possibly only and i want to make this extremely memorable for her.

I would love to throw a baby shower for my daughter, Lauren. Lauren is having her first baby. In the past 4 years she has gone through a divorce from hubby #1, her father passed away within a year of the divorce. She married Nate in August, 2010 (her soulmate). They became pregnant in September and lost the baby at 12 weeks. It was totally devastating! Now, she is 20 weeks into a new pregnancy and is due in October with a baby boy. This will be her first child and our first grandchild. We are over the moon and would love to make this an especially happy time in her life, especially considering all the tragedy she has already endured at the young age of 25. Thanks for your consideration.
Arielle Evans says
I would love to throw a baby shower for my new Step Mother! She just married my dad and they are unexpectedly expecting a little one this October! They both have all grown kids from previous marriages, and now they are starting over! My idea so far for the shower, is the theme, which is “A Little Man is on the Way” and everything will be covered in Mustaches!

Honestly? I would throw myself a shower!! I have 3 year old and a 3 month old and didn’t get a shower for either one. My husband and I have moved 10 times in 5 years and I have never been in a place long enough to have a good enough friend to throw me a shower. That shounds really pathetic…I’m really okay with it I’d just love to have a baby shower!!

I would love to give that gift card to a couple of my girlfriends who are going to throw me a baby shower. I am currently pregnant with my third child but I have never had a baby shower. I would love to be able to help out financially because we are all moms with families and expenses. I just thought it was sweet that since I never had anyone throw me a shower with my first two they wanted to make sure I would get to have that wonderful experience. (not to mention my youngest is going to be 7 and I have given everything away ;)
