Cupid’s Strawberry Float Recipe – Valentine Kids Food Craft

This fun Valentine Food Crafts takes a twist on the Classic Root Beer Float! Use strawberry soda and mix with ice cream for a yummy after school or February Valentine’ s Party Treat!

Ingredients:

Vanilla Ice Cream
Strawberry Soda
Whipped Cream (optional)
Maraschino Cherries (optional)

Directions:

Place 2 scoops of vanilla ice cream in a glass.
Slowly add strawberry soda – it will foam a lot!

These Mini Cherry Heart Pies are so easy to make you might find yourself making them more often than February 14th! Using Refrigerated Pie Crust and Cherry Pie Filling, consider including the kids in this easy as 1, 2, 3 Valentine’s Day recipe.

Mini Cherry Heart Pies

Your ideal Valentine’s day might include beautiful flowers, breakfast in bed, a glass of rose, but not mine. My ideal Valentine’s Day includes dessert, namely pie!

With the season of loving being right around the corner, we are excited to share this amazing holiday dessert. Not only is the heart shape perfect for February, but the ease of the recipe will have you falling in love with this heart shaped hand pie.

Consider sharing this recipe as a gift for a teacher or as an after dinner treat for the family. The Valentine’s Day Food Craft is perfect for incorporating little hands, so have your little baker get ready with the sugar and a heart shaped cookie cutter!

Mini Cherry Heart Pies Ingredients:

Valentine’s Day Mini Cherry Heart Pies

Cook Time: 15 minutes
Total Time: 0 hours
Yield: 8 1x

Ingredients

Scale

1 box Refrigerated Pie Crust
11 oz Cherry Pie Filling
1 Egg
1 tbsp Milk
White Sparkling Sugar
Heart Shaped Cookie Cutter

Cook Mode Prevent your screen from going dark

Instructions

Preheat your oven to 350.
Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
Lay out your pie crust and using a 3 to 4″ heart shaped cookie cutter, cut about 16 hearts.
Cut as many shapes as you can, then reroll scraps as needed to get more hearts (get an even number).
Mix your egg and milk to make an egg wash.
Place half of the hearts on prepared pan(s).
Use egg wash to wet the edges of the hearts on the pan.
Place a small amount of the pie filling in the center of each heart.
Make a small x cut in the center of the remaining half of the hearts that are not on the pan.
Place your x heart crust on top of each filled heart and press and crimp edges. A fork can help crimp.
Brush sealed pie with egg wash and dust with sparkling sugar.
Bake for 14 to 16 minutes until crust is browned.
Allow to cool.

Mini Cherry Heart Pies Directions:

First, preheat oven to 350.

Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.

Lay out your Refrigerated Pie Crust.

I like to lit the pie crust get slightly room temp before the next step.

Using a 3 to 4″ heart shaped cookie cutter, you should get 8 to 10 pies from 1 box of crusts.

Cut as many heart shapes as you can. Reroll scraps as needed for more pieces. You want an even number of hearts to make the top of the pie and the bottom of the pie.

After you are done, mix together your egg egg and milk to make an egg wash.

Place half of the hearts on prepared pan(s).

Next, use egg wash to wet the edges of the hearts on the pan.

Place a small amount of the pie filling in the center of each heart.

Make a small x cut in the center of the remaining half of the hearts.

Place an x heart on top of each filled heart and press and crimp edges. A fork would be nice to help crimp your edges (see our Baking Hacks and Tips for more ideas on how to perfect pie edges!)

Finally, brush sealed pie with egg wash and dust with sparkling sugar.

Bake for 14 to 16 minutes until crust is slightly browned.

Allow to cool and enjoy!

What is Elf on the Shelf?

Elf on the Shelf is a Christmas Tradition. The tradition has a book and a elf doll. The book is poetic and in rhyme sharing the purpose of the Elf’s visits. The Elf visits each Thanksgiving. He/She goes and returns from the North Pole each evening. Every morning he can be found in a new location in the house. The Elf has been found in the refrigerator, fishing in the toilet, writing messages on the mirror or hanging from the lights. It is VERY IMPORTANT, the Elf is not touch each evening or his Christmas magic will be lost! Each family is able to name their special elf. The elves return to their home (Santa’s North Pole Work shop) every Christmas Eve. An Elf’s Story can also be found on DVD.

Let’s chat! I have brought you a new Elf on the Shelf Ideas daily (in the months of November and December) for the past seven years. That’s almost 60 new ideas a year, so very close to 500 new ideas. In that time, very few of my ideas include two elves. Why? Because once you introduce a new Elf, expect your child to expect a new Elf each time. It’s just hard to go back. Yes. You can have 2 Elf on the Shelves. You will need to buy an authentic Elf on a Shelf Kit. Creatively Classic Activities and Books (Elf on the Shelf founders) do not sell the dolls individually or in sets of two. You will know you have the REAL Elf on the Shelf Doll if you buy your elf doll in a box with a book.

How to Stop Elf on the Shelf

If having an Elf on the Shelf is too much, you can make your Elf doll a temporary visitor. Sometimes elves do not visit for the entire season. Sometimes they share families. You also can use an Elf on the Shelf Retirement Letter, so your Elf can move on to a new family. One last idea, is having your Elf travel. Using an Elf Postcard, your elf can write a note form the North Pole or Beach. During this time your family will not have Elf while they spend a few days traveling.

The same can be said for having two Elf on the Shelf dolls. You can have your second elf temporarily visit as a friend or relative of your family’s Elf doll. You can also have your Elf retire moving on to a new family who needs to make the nice list.
