We get it. who doesn’t love a good pirate activity. If you are looking for some fun pirate ideas for your child, consider having a pirate birthday party. While this is especially fun during the holiday season (who doesn’t love a pirate with some good holly and bells?), you can also have a pirate party on talk like a pirate day or any time of the year when your child is turning another age.
Ahoy matey – add to your pirate party afew fun pirate games. These can be played with mates of all ages. Just make sure they are young at heart. Play at a celebration, within the family or even with your Elf on the Shelf at a witness.

Elf on the Shelf Pirate Idea
Don’t walk the plank. Be prepared with the Elf on the Shelf pirate idea. To put together a cute pirate idea with your Elf on the Shelf doll, gather the following supplies.
Supplies
- The Elf on the Shelf Doll
- Chocolate coins for booty (these can be hard to find, try the Dollar Tree, CVS, Walmart or here.)
- Paper
- Pen or marker
- Optional: printable Elf pirate clothes
- Optional: Elf treasure hunt
Instructions
To put together this Pirate Elf on the Shelf idea, printable your printable pirate outfit. Use tape or sticky velcro to put it together. Push pins are also helpful.
If you have 12 inch doll pirate accessories, gather them together. Don’t stress if not. Avast ye mamas… really all you need are gold coins and your Elf doll.
Hide some gold coins in the house. If you are doing this for a younger child, write clues of where your child can locate the coins. If it’s for older coins, let them tear apart the house as they try to find the most chocolate coins.
Write a note listing how many coins you hid. We wrote the pirate elf note, “treasure hunt: can you find all 14?”

Elf on the Shelf is a Christmas Tradition. The tradition has a book and a elf doll. The book is poetic and in rhyme sharing the purpose of the Elf’s visits. The Elf visits each Thanksgiving. He/She goes and returns from the North Pole each evening. Every morning he can be found in a new location in the house. The Elf has been found in the refrigerator, fishing in the toilet, writing messages on the mirror or hanging from the lights. It is VERY IMPORTANT, the Elf is not touch each evening or his Christmas magic will be lost! Each family is able to name their special elf. The elves return to their home (Santa’s North Pole Work shop) every Christmas Eve. An Elf’s Story can also be found on DVD.
