Can’t you believe the Christmas season is here? Santa Claus is coming to town – or so about 85% of young American children believe. If you have a young child that believes in St. Nick, they probably have a few questions about the Elf on the Shelf. Today we are answering questions about the Christmas Elf and including fun Elf & Santa Claus activity sheets you can print for free!
How Santa’s Elves Work
Santa’s elves are quite busy and often have a lot of work. Not only are they working for Santa during the Christmas season but there is plenty that goes on during the off seasons too.
Where do elves live?
It’s important to know that elves live in the North Pole with Santa Clause. They are there year around with the occasion beach vacation. During the Christmas holiday season, typically between Thanksgiving and Christmas morning, they travel around the world visiting families.
What do elves do for Santa?
Elves wear many hats and have many different jobs. The two main roles of elves are to help Santa make toys for Christmas presents. Also, many elf’s jobs are visit families during the Christmas season.
There are two types of elves. Christmas elves that visit families and elves that work in Santa’s workshop. Their role is different and it doesn’t mean their jobs can’t overlap. In fact, a family elf might work in the toy workshop during the off season. In addition, a workshop Elf can also visit families during the holiday season.
Additional rolls might include kitchen help, care of the reindeer department, elf clothing maker, santa’s sleigh repair department and more.
What is your elf job during the holiday season?
During the Christmas season, an elf’s job is to watch for naughty and nice behavior. Elves act as a liaison for Santa Claus and report nightly to the jolly ole fellow good and bad behavior. Santa uses the help of elves to create his nice list.
What do elves look like?
Did you know that not all elves look alike! Elves can come in many different colors and shapes. Just like people. The most common elf is known for it’s red body, broad face and red pointy hat. These elves often visiting homes. Other elves can be green, blue or even black. Elves typically have a little round belly and pointy ears. They can wear stripped socks. The head elf has yellow tights, a white peter pan collar on his green jacket, and a yellow accent on his green hat. He has been known to be spotted in the Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer Christmas Movie.
Elf on the Shelf Activity Sheet
Now that you have learned alot about Santa Claus’s elves, you mgiht want to learn if you are more like an Elf or more like St. Nick. For this fun “are you more like Elf or more like Santa” activity sheet, have your Elf on the Shelf deliver it one morning. What is Elf on the Shelf?
Elf on the Shelf is a Christmas Tradition. The tradition has a book and a elf doll. The book is poetic and in rhyme sharing the purpose of the Elf’s visits. The Elf visits each Thanksgiving. He/She goes and returns from the North Pole each evening. Every morning he can be found in a new location in the house. The Elf has been found in the refrigerator, fishing in the toilet, writing messages on the mirror or hanging from the lights. It is VERY IMPORTANT, the Elf is not touch each evening or his Christmas magic will be lost! Each family is able to name their special elf. The elves return to their home (Santa’s North Pole Work shop) every Christmas Eve. An Elf’s Story can also be found on DVD.
