We are back, so is the Elf on the Shelf! If you have been with us a long time, you know we have brought you a new Elf on the Shelf Ideas daily (in the months of November and December) for the past six years. Elf Takes the Garbage Out
Do you have a cute little recycle truck or garbage truck. Grab some black garbage bags and cut them up into 4″ x 4″ squares. Add some wadded up paper and tie them together to make mini garbage bags. Elf does his chores and takes out the garbage. You could use one of our Elf on Strike printables and add a note, “do your chores” for a child that needs to take out the garbage of another task!
There are other creative ideas for Elf taking the Garbage out. We found two cute ideas on Pinterest (Source and Source). In one case, Elf is actually taking the garbage out. In another case, the girl Elf doll puts the boy Elf doll in the garbage can. It looks like, for these Elf ideas, they used Mini Curbside Trash and Recycle Can Pencil Cup Holders.

What is Elf on the Shelf?
Elf on the Shelf is a Christmas Tradition. The tradition has a book and a elf doll. The book is poetic and in rhyme sharing the purpose of the Elf’s visits. The Elf visits each Thanksgiving. He/She goes and returns from the North Pole each evening. Every morning he can be found in a new location in the house. The Elf has been found in the refrigerator, fishing in the toilet, writing messages on the mirror or hanging from the lights. It is VERY IMPORTANT, the Elf is not touch each evening or his Christmas magic will be lost! Each family is able to name their special elf. The elves return to their home (Santa’s North Pole Work shop) every Christmas Eve. An Elf’s Story can also be found on DVD
