How to hide Amazon orders from kids (and husbands!) Easy, one step, tutorial on how to keep nosey kids from discovering Christmas purchases, birthday gifts, and adult orders.
How to Hide Amazon Orders from Kids
So it’s difficult to write this post because I realized I also have to hide my Amazon purchases from you all too! Haha. Honestly, they are not bad, I just am asking myself do I really want to show my audience all the junk I am buying!?… Well here it is, in all it’s glory!
How many years where you when you….
So this year (with my assistance) my pre-teen girls have started shopping on Amazon. They got gift cards for their birthday and when something comes to mind that they want, they slowly have been using their Amazon gift card money. I have taught them each to create wish lists of their likes, but often times things end up in the cart and I have to be careful not to buy their “toys” the half a dozen times a day I shop on Amazon myself.
Realizing they were all up in my junk on Amazon, I had to do something. I actually though of contacting corporate. As if I had any pull to reaching the top ranking officials at Amazon… but it occurred to me. Then a friend totally saved the day! If that fact that you can hide your orders makes you mind blown, don’t worry, I have been shopping on Amazon since 2008 and I learned this yesterday (that is ten years later!)
I was yesterdays year old!
I have five kids. Going out into the public is not an option. I tried to enter the public the other day at my child’s chorus performance and I had my two year old pegging cars at my daughter’s elementary peers. In addition to throwing the cars, he was screaming during the entire performance so that half the audience had their head turned to him, not the chorus singers. Why would a shopping trip to Target or Walmart be any better? Hence my daily visits to Amazon.
I digress.
Full disclosure before starting. I am not for hiding things from your spouse. These are for hiding gifts and presents, not for living a secret life! If that’s your goal, please move on to another resource for your Amazon orders.
How to Hide Amazon Orders from Kids*:
In order to hide Amazon Orders from kids, you first need to sign into your Amazon account on your desktop or laptop. (I have not been able to get this to work on my phone.)
Second, on the right hand side of your Amazon bar (at the top of the screen) choose orders.
View your orders.
There are buttons beside each order. You are looking for the button that says Archive Order. Select that.
Would you like to save this?
You will get a pop up message that says, “The archive limit is 100 orders.” This is true as of the time this post was written. Continue with choosing the Archive Order button in yellow.
There you have it. Your order is archived!
How to View Archived Orders:
You are limited to 100 archived orders. I definitely order more than 100 gifts. There is an option to view archived orders or to unarchive your orders. This is a little more hidden from kids, which makes it kind of nice.
Look for the section Ordering and shopping preferences. Find Archived Orders.
Here you can see the items you archived. You can also unarchive your items if you are reaching your 100 count limit.
It is a good idea to unarchive items that you have already gifted making room for future gifts and items you never want the kids to see.
*Note: This post was written December 2018. Things change on Amazon. This is the directions for hiding orders as of the time this post was posted.
