What is the difference between cheap and expensive wallpaper?
Cheap wallpaper is thinner than expensive wallpaper. While there are times and occasions it is okay to go cheap, it is important to know the benefits of expensive wallpaper. Expensive wallpaper typically has a smoother surface and can handle the elements like sun and moisture better than low-cost wallpaper. You will notice expensive name brand wallpaper is thicker. Since it is thicker, it is also harder to hang. When purchasing expensive wallpaper, go with a professional experienced wallpaper hanger.
What is considered expensive wallpaper?
You can often find wallpaper for $10 to $50 a roll. This is great when quickly updating a space with a low-budget. This is also good for home staging. However, expensive wallpaper is typically in the $100s per roll and there is often a minimum purchase you have to make when buying expensive wallpaper.
How many rolls of wallpaper do I need?
You will need to measure the square footage of the are you plan to apply wallpaper. Begin by measuring the width of your wall. Then measure the height. Multiply these numbers for your square footage. For example a wall 12 feet wide by 10 feet tall will require 120 sq ft. To prevent running out of wallpaper in the chance you make mistake, multiply your square footage by 20%. If you measure a 120 square foot wall, that would total 144 sq ft after it was increased by 20%. Know your return policy. Some places will allow you to return wallpaper. Others will not.
