You might remember me sharing about the DC31 vacuum. Don’t let the size of the DC31 fool you – this little thing means POWER! Spinning five times faster than a Formula 1 race car, this was a vacuum my family frequently used (multiple times a week.) In fact, recently when our vacuum cleaner was not performing, this hand held was doing most of the house work – that a lot of pressure on 3 lb piece of fine machinery.
Dyson knew I LOVED my fine, little friend, that they gave me the challenge of the next level, the Dyson DC35 or Digital Slim. Similar to the DC31, the DC35 is POWERFUL!
The Digital Slim can also be used on many floor surfaces including carpet, ceramic, vinyl and wood. It is lightweight. The system and attachable aluminum wand are only 4.96 lbs. Easy to lift to the top of your curtains, small enough to tuck under your coffee table or even couch. Improvements include a 26.1 inch detachable long-reach wand, six to 15 minutes of constant suction, and a functional docking station that takes up little room.
Product Features
- Digital Motor – It spins up to 3 times faster than conventional motors.
- Root Cyclone™ Technology – spinning dust and dirt straight form your floor to a compact bin.
- Detachable Long-reach Wand – perfect for high places or awkward gaps.
- 2.2V Lithium-ion Battery – no power fade and charges 3 times faster than the average battery
- 2 Year Warranty – covers parts and labor.
The DC35 is my first choice for quick messes. It quickly snaps in and out’s base, requires no plugging in, is INCREDIBLY powerful, and allows me to stand up (if I desire – no bending over for this cordless vacuum). Light weight, strong suction and efficient – enough said!
Recently, I reached out to Dyson. I was looking for a manual on how to ask your friend back for your Dyson (chuckle). No, my friend was not borrowing my Dyson Vacuum – I gifted her the vacuum when I received a newer, well-known brand vacuum with an MSRP of around $500. My husband and I chatted and after having two very expensive vacuums on which to giveaway. We figured, we should go with the newer brand since our Dyson DC25 Animal Vacuum was 5 years old. BIG MISTAKE! Within 3 months, the vacuum wasn’t picking up. After spending an hour on the phone with customer support and getting no response after an email, I had a useless vacuum – It wasn’t providing suction. I am not someone who would ask anyone back for a gift that I gave. So I kept moving forward. I wanted Dyson to know I had a tried and true story – I had a terrible experience with a rather expensive vacuum. I am someone who reaches out to companies when I am satisfied with a product (so many companies hear only the negative.)
Would you like to save this?
It turns out, even customer service could not help me with my problem vacuum. The issue ended up being clogged tubes. Why did I never have this issue with Dyson after five years of use? The secret is Root Cyclone™ technology. That means Dyson vacuums don’t lose suction power as you clean. Dyson Vacuums generate centrifugal forces that spin dust and dirt out of the air and straight into the bin. The bin pops open for easy, stress-free cleaning. Long story short, in my opinion, when buying an expensive vacuum – go with the brand who knows vacuums, go with Dyson!
Keep an eye out for the new Dyson Airblade hand dryer. I have seen a couple of these in airports and restaurants. It’s fast (12 seconds), hygienic, and is good for the environment. Very impressive! What’s next Dyson?

Thank you very much! I am wondering if there is a difference in power between the dc31 and the dc35. Do you have any information?
