The game involves passing a wrapped parcel (present) from person to person based on a series of directions or while music plays. The aim of the game is to be the one holding the parcel. The person holding the parcel at the end of each round (or at the end of the game) gets to unwrap a layer of paper to reveal a small gift or prize inside.

The origins of Pass the Parcel are unclear, but it is believed to have originated in Britain in the early 20th century. The game of pass has since spread around the world and is now a popular party game in many countries. Pass the Parcel is a simple game that requires no special equipment, making it a popular choice for children’s parties and other social gatherings for adults.

Pass the Parcel is also called the left-right game as the present can jut quickly to the left and again quickly to the right. This gift exchange game can be enjoyed by people of all ages and is a great way to bring people together and create a fun and relaxed atmosphere. What is the Pass the Parcel Game?

Pass the Parcel is a game that involves a present wrapped in one or multiple layers of wrapping paper or reusable fabric bags of different sizes. A prize or gift is placed in the center of the parcel. The game is played by a group of players who sit in a circle. The parcel is passed around the circle from player to player.

How to Play Pass the Parcel Game

There are multiple versions of the Pass the Parcel gift game. You can play this gift exchange game with music or with rhyming directions.

Musical Pass

To play Pass the Parcel with music, players must sit in a circle. The person who is hosting the party or event should start the game by playing music and passing the parcel to the person sitting next to them. Similar to hot potato only when the music stops, you want to be holding the package. When the music stops, the player holding the parcel unwraps one layer of wrapping paper. The music begins again. With each break in the music, a new layer of the parcel is unwrapped. The game continues until the final layer is unwrapped, revealing the prize or gift inside.

To make the game more challenging, the host can add additional rules, dares, or “forfeits”, such as requiring players to perform a task or answer a question before passing the parcel. This can add an element of fun and excitement to the game. In addition between each layer of the package can be a smaller gift or prize.

Rhyming Riddles Pass

Another fun version of the pass the parcel game is with a series of directions or rhyming riddles. In this game, directions are provided which where to start the package. Then as each new rhyme is read aloud, the parcel or package moves around the circle. You can have layers of the package where with each new player, a new layer can be unwrapped or you can have the package rotate the circle and at the end of the game, there is only one winner. This last person gets to unwrap the entire package.

We will start this game with a little rhyme, who has known you the longest time?
A very important person gets to start the game, pass now to the one with the longest first & last name.
The first person to your right is wearing blue, Is now allowed to grab the parcel straight from you.
To be fair we have to share, Pass now to the person with the longest hair.
We know how time can get away. Pass to the one who had the most recent birthday.

Materials Needed for Pass the Parcel Game

To play Pass the Parcel, you will need the following materials:

Wrapping paper or reusable fabric bags
Tape
Scissors
Music player and fun music
Prize or gift to be placed in the center of the parcel

Examples of smaller prizes between the layers of gift wrap can be candy bars, plastic toys, gift cards, chocolates, and lolli pops.

It is important to ensure that the wrapping paper or fabric bags used to wrap the parcel are of different designs and sizes. This will make it easier to distinguish between the different layers of wrapping paper and add an element of surprise to the game.

Before I start this post, I want to tell you about an amazing friend, Heather at Passion for Savings. It was about 10 short weeks from the time Heather found out she had cancer until the time she took her last breath. She left an incredible impact on many in her short life. Because I lack the words right not to tell you more about Heather, I will share with you the post I left on my personal Facebook page. I am forever grateful for this 13-year friendship. During this difficult cancer diagnosis time, many people turn to their faith for comfort and healing. The word of the Lord is a source of strength and hope for many, and there are numerous Bible verses that offer comfort and encouragement to those who are battling cancer or any illness or disease.

Understanding Cancer Through Bible Verses

Cancer is a complex illness that can be difficult to understand. Many thoughts and questions can run through one’s head when battling a sickness that feels out of control. However, the Holy Bible provides comfort and hope for those who are facing cancer equipping individuals with the power of the Holy Spirit and the truth of the Lord’s word. The following comforting and healing scriptures can help individuals understand cancer from a biblical perspective.

God is Sovereign

One of the most important things to remember when facing cancer is that God is sovereign. He is in control of all things, including cancer. Job 12:10 says, “In his hand is the life of every creature and the breath of all mankind.” This verse reminds us that God is the one who holds our lives in his hands. Even in the midst of cancer, we can trust that God is faithful and that he has our best interests in mind. We are children of God. He is writing an amazing book of our life and this day of trouble is a chapter.

God Provides Comfort

Finally, it is important to remember that God provides comfort to those who are suffering. 2 Corinthians 1:3-4 says, “Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of compassion and the God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our troubles, so that we can comfort those in any trouble with the comfort we ourselves receive from God.” This verse reminds us that God is the source of all comfort. He is our living hope. He is the one who can provide peace and hope in the midst of an illness.

In summary, understanding cancer through a biblical perspective involves recognizing that God is sovereign, that he is good, and that he provides comfort to those who are suffering.

Having the word of God in our hearts acts as a shield and sword. Hebrews 4:12 reminds us that “The word of God is alive and active. Sharper than any double-edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart.” Proverbs 30:5 states “Every word of God is flawless; he is a shield to those who take refuge in him.” The word of the Lord acts of armor to protect us from attacks from the enemy including worry, fear, and strife.

These truths can provide hope and comfort to those who are facing cancer.

Planning is an essential part of organizing a successful mall scavenger hunt. In this section, we will discuss the three main aspects of planning: selecting a mall, creating a scavenger hunt list of items, and setting the rules.

Selecting a Mall

When selecting a mall for the scavenger hunt, it is important to consider the size and layout of the mall. The mall should be large enough to provide a variety of locations and items to search for, but not so large that it becomes overwhelming for the participants. Additionally, the layout of the mall should be easy to navigate, with clear signage and maps available.

Creating the List of Items

The list of items is a crucial component of the scavenger hunt. It should be challenging enough to keep participants engaged, but not so difficult that it becomes frustrating. It is important to include a mix of items, such as specific stores or products, landmarks within the mall, and unique or unusual items that require creativity to find.

It is also important to establish a time limit for the scavenger hunt and to provide participants with a clear start and end point, as well as potential meet-up spots in between.

Finally, is this a contest with teammates and one clear winner? In this case, scavenger hunt prizes should be determined in advance, and rules for determining winners should be established. Does photographic evidence matter? Does the entire list need to be completed? Is there a bonus for the first team o finish? Etc.

Execution

Dividing into Teams

To start the Mall Scavenger Hunt, the participants should be divided into teams. The number of teams will depend on the number of participants and the size of the mall. Ideally, each team should have at least three members. It is recommended to have a team leader who will be responsible for keeping track of the clues and making sure the team stays on track. An adult is a great option for a team leader when doing this activity with tweens and younger kids.

Starting the Hunt

Once the teams have been formed, the hunt can begin. Each team will be given a list of clues and a time limit to complete the hunt. The entire team needs to stay together. The teams should start at the same time and meet back at a predetermined location at the end of the time limit. It is important to make sure everyone understands the rules and expectations before beginning the hunt.

Keeping Score

To keep the score, each team will be awarded points for each clue they find and complete correctly. The team with the most points at the end of the time limit is the winner. It is recommended to have a neutral party keep track of the scores to avoid any disputes. Before the hunt begins, consider if there are bonus points for funny photos, finding the same clue in multiple ways, or completing the treasure hunt first.
