You might have followed on Instagram or Facebook, but this weekend we visited New York City. It wasn’t our first visit, so often our tourist things are limited to what is free or frugal. I personally do not think I have done a sightseeing tour, maybe ever, in NYC. I always had family in the city and so there never was really a need…. this weekend that changed.
This weekend we experienced THE RIDE. When I say experience, I mean experienced. It’s a bit of a pricier sightseeing tour (there are discounts) but not having heard of it, you might not realize what you are paying for – ENTERTAINMENT. You are paying for a comedy show and NYC tour in one…. SIMPLY AMAZING and unique. If you are visiting New York City and doing a tour, this is the one to choose!
THE RIDE uses New York City and its renowned landmarks as the backdrop for a theatrical event that blurs the boundary between tour and performance. The city becomes a stage, and soon you can’t tell where the street ends and the show begins!
THE RIDE gives you a front-row seat to the streets of New York City in a multi-million dollar motor coach that comes equipped with state-of-the-art audio/visual technology, including 40 plasma screen TVs and over 3000 LED lights. Enjoy the performance from the comfort of one-of-a-kind stadium seating and huge panoramic windows.
While navigating a 4.2-mile midtown path, our performers and native New Yorkers alike become performers for THE RIDE, showing guests an entirely new side of New York City they can’t see anywhere else.
Whether you’re new to the city or a long-time native, you’ll find something to enjoy.

The tour starts out right near Times Square. It is very easy to get to. As you tour the city, you have personalized bits of entertainment along the way. We saw a glowing ballerina in Columbus Circle, a banker tap dancer in front of Bank of America, a beatboxer in the food district, a break dancer UPS man and so much more! In addition to theatrics, it’s emceed by two comedians and your seats face parallel to the windows. The girls loved it, but I think my husband and I can claim enjoying it more. In fact, one of our family games is “tell me your favorite party of the city” and this was the winner for the parents and in the kids top 3 (overshadowed by Toys R Us and the M&M store!)
We chose a night tour, but this bus runs all day long. If I were to make a recommendation, definitely do the night option. It is so fun to see the city lit up.
